Karen holds a JD from Georgetown University, from which she graduated cum laude, and was a member of the American Criminal Law Review.  She is admitted to the State Bar of California as well as the District of Columbia Bar.  She is a certified mediator and holds the Society for Human Resource Management-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credentials.  Karen has completed the Research Integrity Officer Boot Camp presented by the Office of Research Integrity, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  She is a member of the Leadership California, California Issues & Trends, Class of 2016.  

Karen is trained in trauma-informed interviewing and investigations.  She keeps current in all aspects of Title IX and workplace investigations. 

Karen has worked in the areas of labor/employment and school law since 1992.  She has experience advising employers in all aspects of human resources, including employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, organizational development, benefits and leave administration, classification, compensation, affirmative action, and EEO compliance.
